  • Bing ran experiment on user interface , personalization changes, algorithmic changes, content changes etc.
  • Another example of an A/B test conducted by Microsoft is the experiment they conducted to optimize the search results page for their Bing search engine. In this experiment, Microsoft tested two versions of the search results page: one with a new layout that featured more images and less text, and another with the existing layout.To conduct the experiment, Microsoft randomly assigned users to either the control group (which saw the existing layout) or the treatment group (which saw the new layout). They then measured user engagement metrics such as click-through rate, time spent on page, and number of searches conducted. After collecting the data, Microsoft analyzed the results to determine whether the new layout improved user engagement compared to the existing layout.

    Based on the results of the A/B test, Microsoft found that the new layout led to a significant increase in user engagement. Users in the treatment group had a higher click-through rate, spent more time on the search results page, and conducted more searches than users in the control group. As a result, Microsoft implemented the new layout for all users of Bing.

    Query suggetion example
